Tips On Buying Used Elliptical Machines
By Gary Riddle
Buying used elliptical machines is quite easy if you know where to find the right one and if you know what to look for in a used machine. Buying the first piece of equipment you see because it has an "unused" look could be a very costly decision.
Purchasing used elliptical machine from private individuals could be both advantageous and disadvantageous. On the pro side, you may be able to find a seldom used elliptical machine. Many people would buy a piece of equipment because it is a fad, use it several times and then would tire of it easily realizing that it is not suitable after all. Or people would buy expensive equipment thinking to keep fit and then lose the will to exercise. In such cases, the used equipment is a good find. On the down side, a used elliptical machine offered by individuals is a bit risky since you have to believe the owner as to the condition of the unit. Prices of these units should be much lower since they do not come with a warranty.
Used elliptical machines may be purchased from gyms, fitness centers or from dealers. Gyms are continuously upgrading their equipment so that used equipment is sold at a fairly discounted price. Used machines from gyms and fitness centers are generally maintained by qualified technicians and as such will be in better condition. However, since these units come from fitness facilities be aware of the fact that they are used every day the gym is open. And since the units are sold as is, you have to be very careful not to buy an elliptical machine that would break down after several days. Buying used elliptical machine from fitness stores would be safer since these machines are reconditioned by qualified technicians and usually come with warranty. Most warranties are only good for 90 days and in most cases repairs will be done in the dealer's facilities. No home service for you there.
Getting as much information on the product before buying is advantageous. Dig through the internet for reviews of used elliptical machines. Ebay is a good site to check for available used exercise equipment.
The most important thing to consider in purchasing a used elliptical machine is the suitability of the unit. Purchasing one that is fairly new and at a very low cost will be useless if it will not provide you with the right work out you need.
